The meditation periods and classes at Bellingham Insight Meditation Society are offered free of charge. For weekend and residential retreats, a minimum fee is usually applied to cover costs of lodging and food but there is no charge for the teacher. This practice continues a 2500-year-old Buddhist tradition of providing the teachings freely to all who are interested. BIMS is able to do this because of the generosity of the people who choose to support us.

Bellingham Insight Meditation Society (BIMS) is supported in many ways. You can make an annual pledge contribution or make a one-time donation by sending a check or money order. In addition you can volunteer time to serve on our board or on committees. Any and all of these efforts are necessary to keep Insight practice available in our community.

Your pledge to the Bellingham Insight Meditation Society (BIMS) will pay for our share of expenses for the meditation space (rent, utilities, cleaning supplies, etc) as well as support our programs & activities. Any extra funds are kept in the Insight account to be used for future growth and for scholarships. There is no minimum donation; all donations are gratefully received.

You can make a one-time donation for any amount. Your donation will be used for the support of our programs unless you specify a particular purpose.

Scholarship fund

Bellingham Insight Meditation Society is committed to providing scholarships that make it possible for everyone to attend the retreats that we sponsor. We offer a number of scholarships to each retreat; the usual support is one-half the cost of a retreat.

Volunteer

BIMS depends on members and non-members alike who volunteer their time and energy to promote Insight practice in Whatcom County. We have no paid employees and are always looking for individuals to staff our various committees or work on one-time projects.
